Curriculum

Which curriculum/catalog do you use?

First-time freshmen entering Tulane in or after Fall 2006
Use the 2007 University Catalog and the Newcomb-Tulane College Core Curriculum.

Transfer students entering Tulane in or after Fall 2006

  • Transfer students use the 2007 University Catalog and the Newcomb-Tulane College Core Curriculum. There may be some modifications to Core Curriculum requirements, depending on actual number of credits transferred.
  • Transfer students entering Tulane with sophomore standing or higher are exempt from TIDES.
  • Transfer students entering the A.B. Freeman School of Business might use the 2005 business school curriculum for their majors in combination with the Newcomb-Tulane College Core Curriculum; check with the business school for a determination.

All students who entered Tulane before Fall 2006
Use the 2005 Undergraduate Catalog, which includes college-specific requirements. Students who were enrolled in Newcomb College, Tulane College, or the A.B. Freeman School of Business prior to Fall 2006 are responsible for completing the requirements of the 2005-2006 General Curriculum.

Major requirements

There are also requirements specific to each major as detailed in the university catalogs. Liberal arts, science, and engineering majors must fulfil the requirements in place the semester in which they declare the major. Professional schools may use a different catalog year, depending on your class status (e.g. sophomore, junior, etc.).

At any time, you may access automated degree audits from the University Registrar's website. It shows all completed courses and indicates the general degree requirements and major requirements that remain to be fulfilled before graduation.  You may also use it to check how closely you may have fulfilled requirements for other majors you may be considering.
