Core Curriculum Course Substitution Petitions (both curricula)

FOR STUDENTS ADMITTED PRE-FALL 2018

Purpose:

Request to fulfill a Newcomb-Tulane College curriculum requirement with a course that does not have that curriculum attribute (e.g., special topics courses, Tulane Study Abroad courses, transferred courses.).

NOTE: Writing intensive is school-specific in the pre-2018 curriculum and exceptions must be approved by your school. Contact your Newcomb-Tulane Academic Advisor for assistance.

Instructions:

  • Complete required personal information - Name, Date, Student ID (SID), Email address, Term at Tulane, School
  • Complete Course Title, Course ID (Course number), Term course taken, including year
  • Sign and date
  • Select the category of Substitution
  • Provide a brief explanation of how the course meets the criteria of the category for which the substitution is proposed. Refer to the Core Curriculum or your Academic Advisor for more information about the criteria of a requirement if you have any questions.
  • Include a copy of the course syllabus (translated to English if in another language)
  • Submit this form and the course syllabus to your Academic Advisor.
  • Your Academic Advisor will notify you of the decision of the Curriculum Committee.

FOR STUDENTS ADMITTED FALL 2018 ONWARD

Purpose:

This form is intended for students who are requesting to fulfill a curriculum requirement in Newcomb-Tulane College with a course not regularly offered at Tulane (Special topics courses, Tulane Study Abroad courses, transferred courses.)

Instructions:

  • Complete required personal information - Name, Date, Student ID #, Email, 1st Term and year at Tulane/Year, and Academic Advisor
  • Complete Course Title, Course ID & CRN, Term course taken, including year
  • Sign and date
  • Select the category of Substitution
  • Provide a brief explanation of how the course meets the criteria of the category for which the substitution is proposed. Refer to the Core Curriculum or your Academic Advisor for more information about the criteria of a requirement if you have any questions.
  • Include a copy of the course syllabus (translated to English if in another language)
  • Submit this form and the course syllabus to your Academic Advisor.
  • Your Academic Advisor will notify you of the decision of the Curriculum Committee.
